Izzat Hummatov Mushfiq oglu was born on September 9, 1996 in Uzunboyad village of Shabran district. After graduating from high school, Izzat was called up for military service and was awarded with an honorary degree for his distinction in military service.
The young patriot, who participated in the April battles as well, later served in the Army as an overtime soldier. He voluntarily applied to the Ministry of Defense to pass special courses and started serving as a motorized rifleman in the assault battalion.
Izzat Hummatov, a soldier of the Azerbaijan Army, took part in the battles for the freedom of Fuzuli during the Patriotic War that started on September 27, 2020. He was martyred on October 12 during the Fuzuli battles.
The martyr was posthumously awarded the medals “For the Liberation of Fuzuli”, “For the Motherland” and “Brave warrior”.
"Izzat was distinguished from childhood. As a child, he was fond of wearing a military uniform. He achieved his dream and became a soldier. His comrades-in-arms say that Izzat knew no fear. He fearlessly attacked the enemy with a machine gun on his shoulder. We are proud of him", said Farhad Gulaliyev, grandfather of the martyr.
Sabina Hummatova, the mother of the martyr, said: “He was a kind, smiling and friendly child. We kept in touch during the war. “Mother, you should rejoice that I am in a military uniform,” he said. We did not hear from him for a while. On the night of October 29, we were told he was martyred. May God have mercy on all our martyrs.”
There have been seven martyrs from Uzunboyad village of Shabran disctrict during the defense of the Azerbaijani lands. Three of them martyred during the Patriotic War.
