The martyr’s father Salim Mammadov is a participant and veteran of the First Karabakh War. He says that his son has great interest in the military field since childhood. Sanan always asked his father about his way of fighting. He used to learn about the First Karabakh war from his father. Thus, a patriotic young man who loves his country has been brought up.
In 2016, Sanan successfully graduated from the military high school named after J.Nakhchivanski. However, his love for becoming a professional soldier and continuing his education does not fade away. The year he graduated from high school, he retakes the exam and was admitted to the Azerbaijan Higher Military School named after Heydar Aliyev, where he studied for 4 years, and learned the secrets of the military.
According to his father, the most beautiful manner of him was avoidance of lies: “He would have never lied. He did not lie to anyone. Sometimes, he came home late and when I asked the reason, he used to tell the truth whatever happened. Honesty was his most beautiful feature”.
Sanan Mammadli joined the battles since the beginning of the war. He proudly informed his family about the first victory - the liberation of five villages of Fuzuli and Jabrayil districts and wanted them to congratulate him. His father remembers those moments like this: “We were very happy, I wished God to protect them. “Father, no worries,” each time he said.
Sanan last contacted his family on October 7. After that, he didn't call again:
“Father, everything is fine, the network signal might be weak, don't worry if you fail to contact me,” he said. I also understand that it is a battle, and we can't talk every hour. After that, we did not reach my son for 3 days, then 5 days. We waited…until I got a call on the 20th of the month... They said Sanan was martyred.
Sanan Mammadli was martyred on October 15, and his body remained in neutral territory for 4 days. Salim Mammadov found out from his uniforms on him that Sanan had fought in the intelligence group.
Sanan's mother Rasmiya Mammadova says that she is proud of her child: "I am proud of Sanan. Thanks to such brave sons, the whole world learned about our unity and strength. I am proud of my son. He didn't leave the battlefield, he wasn't shot from behind. My son was shot in the chest while harrying forward.”
By the orders of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Sanan Mammadli was posthumously awarded the medals
"For the Motherland", "For the Liberation of Khojavand", "For Bravery" and the 3rd grade order
"For Service to the Homeland".
