One of the heroes who showed unparalleled bravery in the 44-day war is Hamdam Agayev. Hamdam Agayev Mayil oglu was born on September 9, 1975 in Sirkhavand village of Aghdam district. In 1993-1994, he fought in the battles for the defense of Agdara region in the First Karabakh War.
Hamdam Aghayev, who entered the Baku Higher Joint Command School named after Hazi Aslanov in May 1994 after the end of the war, completed his higher military education in 1999 and began serving in the Azerbaijan Armed Forces.
In 2000, Hamdam Agayev started serving in a military unit of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces located in the territory of Nakhchivan AR with the military rank of lieutenant. He was promoted to the military rank of senior lieutenant in 2003, captain in 2004, major in 2006, and lieutenant colonel in 2012.
Hamdam Agayev was awarded the medals "For Military Services" by the Decree dated June 24, 2010 of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Hamdam Aghayev, who served in the fourth Army Corps of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces in 2010-2017, served as Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of the military unit located in Gusar city in 2017-2018.
Hamdam Agayev had served as the Chief of Staff of the fourth Army Corps since 2018.
Hamdam Agayev, a lieutenant colonel of the Azerbaijan Army, fought in the battles for the freedom of Fuzuli during the Patriotic War. He was martyred on October 9 during the Fuzuli battles. He was laid to rest in the Second Alley of Martyrs.
