In 2013, he entered the Higher Military Lyceum named after Heydar Aliyev. After graduating, he entered Azerbaijan Higher Military School in 2016. After studying there for 4 years, he was awarded the military rank of lieutenant in 2020.

“Mother, I cannot be a son for you, I am the son of the Motherland.” That is what Aykhan told his mother on March 8. These were the proudest and at the same time, heartbreaking words a mother could hear from her son. A few months later, Aykhan literally became the son of the Motherland…
Aykhan, who left his home and loved ones for the last time on February 23, 2020, went to war without hugging them whom he missed for 9 months. Everyone missed him. However, there was one person who felt the pain of every moment of him. That was Sevda, who was wearing Aykhan's engagement ring on her finger...



On October 18, Aykhan called his family. He talked to everyone. Just 3 days later - on October 21, he was martyred during the fighting in the directions of Fuzuli and Jabrayil.

...On October 24, a plane was seen in the sky of Nakhchivan, which was carrying the bodies of 12 heroes. Each was an example of pride.
On the same day, Aykhan was laid to rest in the cemetery of Khanliglar village, where he was born and grew up.

By the orders of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, Aykhan Mammadov was awarded the medals “Participant of the Patriotic War”, “For the Liberation of Jabrayil”, “For the Liberation of Fuzuli”, “For the Liberation of Shusha”, “For the Liberation of Khojavand”, “For the Liberation of Kalbajar” and the “Order of the Azerbaijan Flag”.
